Dolgeville baseball wins playoff opener

BEAVER FALLS — Riley Nagle was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored to lift 12th-seeded Dolgeville to a 5-3 victory over fifth-seeded Beaver River in the opening round of the Section III Class C baseball tournament.

Jacob Farquhar had a single, double and an RBI for the Blue Devils, while Chase Doxtater had a double and two runs scored.

Dylan Walrath had a single and two RBIs for Dolgeville (11-6 overall), and Devin Gorinshek and Jimmy Baisley each had singles.

Collin Noftsier had a double and two RBIs for Beaver River (11-8 overall), while Matthew Widrick had a single and an RBI. Ian Widrick, Logan Farney, Dylan Gracey and Aaron Turck all had singles for the Beavers.

Dolgeville advances to face fourth-seeded Thousand Islands in the quarterfinals Thursday at 5 p.m. Thousand Islands posted a 9-0 victory over 13th-seeded Sandy Creek in its first-round contest.
