Dolgeville baseball loses in quarterfinals
CLAYTON — Noah Ingerson finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored to help fourth-seeded Thousand Islands post a 6-4 victory over 12th-seeded Dolgeville in the quarterfinals of the Section III Class C baseball tournament Friday.
Dolgeville scored twice in its first at-bat only to have Thousand Islands answer with four runs in the bottom of the first.
The Blue Devils cut their deficit to 4-3 with a run in the top of the third, but the Vikings scored twice in the bottom of the fourth.
Dolgeville scored the game’s only other run in the top of the seventh.
Chris Wetterhahn had a double and two RBIs for Thousand Islands, while Derek Wiley added a single and two RBIs. Quinn Gaffney had the only other hit for the Vikings.
Riley Nagle was 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored for Dolgeville, and Chase Doxtater was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Hunter Barnes had a double for the Blue Devils, while Jacob Darling and Dylan Walrath each had singles.
Thousand Islands advances to today’s semifinals to face ninth-seeded Cato-Meridian at Murnane Field in Utica at 1:30 p.m. Cato-Meridian upset top-seeded Sauquoit Valley, 3-2, in its quarterfinal game Friday.
Dolgeville finished its season with an 11-7 overall record.
