Winter weather alters local schedule

Monday’s winter weather forced the postponement of several area athletic contests.

The Amsterdam boys and girls basketball teams had their Foothills Council championship games with Glens Falls moved to today. The games will now be played at SUNY Adirondack, with the girls game set for 6:30 p.m., followed by the boys game.

The Western Athletic Conference was forced to change its crossover schedule.

Today, Fonda-Fultonville High School will host Canajoharie vs. Mayfield boys game at 4:30 p.m., Galway vs. Mayfield girls at 6:15 p.m., and Schoharie vs. Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville boys at 8 p.m.

At Fulton-Montgomery Community College today, the Fonda-Fultonville girls will face Middleburgh at 4:30 p.m., followed by the WAC girls and boys championship games at 6:15 and 8 p.m., respectively. In the girls title game, Mekeel Christian Academy will meet Berne-Knox-Westerlo, and in the boys championship game, Mekeel Christian will face Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

The Fulton-Montgomery Community College men’s and women’s basketball games at Herkimer College were moved to Feb. 20.
