OESJ, Northville lose

LANSINGBURGH – The Fort Ann Cardinals pulled off an upset as they defeated top-seeded Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 3-2 in a Section II Class D semifinal Friday at Lansingburgh High School.

Sarah Paige scored the game-winning goal when she headed a direct kick into the net with 16:32 left in regulation.

Paige and Madelyn VanKirk scored early goals to put Fort Ann up 2-0 before Alexis Romeyn answered for OESJ to send match into halftime with the Lady Wolves trailing 2-1.

Abby Mosher tied the match at two apiece with her goal at the 2:29 minute mark of the second half.

Renee Allen collected 13 saves in goal for Fort Ann, while Caitlin Handy had six stops for OESJ, which finished its season with a 15-3 overall record.

Bolton 4, Northville 0

LANSINGBURGH -Leah Monroe finished with a goal and an assist to lead second-seeded Bolton/Warrensburg to a shutout victory over third-seeded Northville in a Section II Class C semifinal contest at Lansingburgh High School.

Maria Baker, Gabrielle Mowery and Abigail Seaman also scored for Bolton/Warrensburg.

Taylor Johnson finished with 11 saves for Northville.

Bolton/Warrensburg advances to Wednesday’s Class D Championship to face fourth-seeded Fort Ann at 5 p.m. at Lansingburgh High School. The Cardinals upset top-seeded Oppenheim-Ephratah/St. Johnsville 3-2 in Friday’s other semifinal contest.

Northville finished its season with an 11-6-1 overall record.
