ZDK students earn rank promotions

JOHNSTOWN – Four members of the Zen-Do Kai Karate Studio in Johnstown recently tested for rank advancement in traditional karate.

Jacob Woodcock earned his rank of first kyu adult brown belt, Caleb Porter, seventh kyu adult yellow belt, Alexis Gluliano achieved her new rank of third kyu junior belt and Julien Gomez moved up to fourth kyu junior belt.

In addition to taking a performance test for their new rank, each of these students has done community service as well as being active in martial arts competition through the ZDK program.

The Zen Do Kai also had some special guests stop in to visit.

Steve Holden, a long time ZDK student now in New Mexico; Bob Gifford, senior member and owner of Safety America Karate in Sugar Land, Texas; Michael Campos, Director and founder of the Zen Do Kai all visited the facility.

The Zen Do Kai is located at 490 N. Perry St. in Johnstown and has been training martial artists ages 4 through adult since 1972.
