Amsterdam Sea Rams compete at Starfish Invitational

TROY — Several Amsterdam Sea Rams swimmers competed in the Starfish Invitational at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Jan. 6 to 8.

Thomas Knack placed seventh in the individual standings in the 15-to-18-year-old boys division with 79 points.

Knack was second in the 200-yard breaststroke, seventh in the 400 individual medley, seventh in the 100 breaststroke, eighth in the 100 butterfly, eighth in the 200 freestyle, eighth in the 500 freestyle and 12th in the 200 individual medley. He also competed in the 100 freestyle.

John Sawitzki competed in the 100 butterfly, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley for Amsterdam.

In the 15-to-18-year-old girls division, Emily Miles was 16th with 48 points, Cecelia Mowrey was 20th with 38 points, Kylie Cotugno was 31st with 11 points and Kayla Dzikowicz was 42nd with 3 points.

Miles was sixth in the 200 individual medley, ninth in the 200 freestyle, 12th in the 100 freestyle, 13th in the 50 freestyle and 16th in the 100 backstroke. She also competed in the 50 backstroke.

Mowrey placed fourth in the 200 individual medley, eighth in the 100 butterfly, 11th in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 200 freestyle. She also competed in the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Cotugno was eighth in the 200 breaststroke. She also competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Dzikowicz was 14th in the 200 breaststroke, while also competing the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.

Paige Bertuch competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley, while Julianna Busseno competed in the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Nathanial Andersen placed 16th in the 11-and-12-year-old boys division with 29 points.

Anderson placed eighth in the 100 freestyle and 11th in the 50 backstroke. He also was 12th in the 100 backstroke, 13th in the 50 butterfly and 14th in the 200 freestyle.

In the 13-and-14-year-old boys division, Trevor Dzikowicz was 17th in the point standings with 29 points. Michael Dormond and Alex Slovak tied for 26th with 12 points and Jack Cornett was 28th with 10 points.

Dzikowicz was sixth in the 200 backstroke, ninth in the 100 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 freestyle.

Dormond was 11th in both the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke for the Sea Rams. He also competed in the 50 backstroke, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.

Slovak placed 10th in the 100 breaststroke and 12th in the 100 backstroke. He also competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 200 individual medley.

Cornett was 12th in the 200 freestyle, 14th in the 100 butterfly and 15th in the 50 freestyle.

Corey DeLisa competed in the 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly for the Sea Rams, while Daniel Dylong competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Riley McDonald competed in the 100 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley for the Sea Rams.

In the girls 11-and-12-year-old division, Ferneidy Dotel competed in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley for the Sea Rams.

Taylor Smith competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 50 breaststroke and 100 individual medley for Amsterdam, while Kaitlyn Stearns competed in the 50 backstroke, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley.

In the 9-and-10-year-old boys division Emilio Jared Eustaquio competed in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke.

In the girls age 9-and-10 division, Allison Gillis competed in the 100 freestyle, 50 butterfly and 100 individual medley.
