Of course they do. Marriage is an arbitrary social convention, not some kind of natural law. If 2 people, gay or straight, want to get married, let them. Why would anyone else consider it their business anyway?

BF to answer your question, LAWYERS! The only way to get business is to keep people fighting with each other!

Where is it in the Constitution that defines a couple as simply "two" ????? Since the beginning of time a married couple has been defined as one male and one female of the same species. And where in the Constitution is this even addressed????????
Political correctness, "diversity", and multi-culturalism will end up major factors in the ultimate destruction of this once great country.

Since the 'right' to kill your offspring is somewhere in the Constitution I suppose it's not too long a stretch to let people who cannot possibly procreate get married. Stands to reason that, in the final analysis, there will be less of both. There's a sick kind of serendipity to the whole thing...way to go progressives. Bf1, you don't look at Marriage as a moral contract? That's weird.

Sure marriage is a moral contract. Can't 2 gay people have a moral contract between them?

were Adam & Eve gay.
0 Agrees | 1 Disagrees | Report Abuse »
Personally, no. So there's the rub...we have societal morals, personal morals and now we face another legislated moral decree for the sake of, in my opinion, a gratifying perversion that insists 'if it feels good, do it'. That's called social decay in any language you choose.
Drugs, it's in the Constitution's 'Good and Plenty' clause that was discovered back in the '70's..the one that also allows people to kill babies. The catch is you have to be wearing a special Black Robe while looking at the back of the Constitution under the light of a full Moon in order to actually 'see' it.

Who said Adam and Eve were married?
How is being gay a "perversion" or "social decay"? A person is born gay, just like they are born with brown hair or blue eyes. So what if they are attracted to people of the same sex - what's the harm? It seems like an awful lot of hand wringing over such a minor variation.

What’s weird is the right wing wackos always professing less government is the answer until it comes to “morals”. Then the wackos want restriction after restriction placed on the backs of all Americans. Burn any books lately Bobby?
Bereal, you are either dense or filled with anger. Either way, you didn't notice that my right wing wacko stance is Govt should not attempt to legislate mine OR your morality, period. It's not their job. You're so wrapped up in your idiotic preconceived belief that I hate gays and burn books or any number of accusation you can think of to try and brand me. It doesn't work silly lib. You do nothing more than spew liberal hate speech like the indoctrinated sheep that you are. How predictable. What your anger won't let you understand is that I don't give two s*h*ts what two, three, four etc. adults do BUT I don't want my Govt TELLING ME BY LAW I have to accept and like it and change my personal moral belief for the sake of somebody elses orgasm. That's it. Now be a good lib, run along and go find some minority to suppress.
Mr Bob the only reason Govt has to pass laws like this is because of bigots like you....Yes we are all sheep and libs....please come up with something new as you use that to attack everyone for their beliefs.

Bob, You don't have to like it, nor do you have to change your own moral beliefs. I personally don't object to gay marriages, but I don't criticize those who do...everyone has an opinion. My problem lies with priorities...2 of the biggest issues facing NYS are jobs/bringing businesses in, and the unjust/inequitable way we fund education through property taxes. Yet our legislature spends time on legalizing gay marriages, marijuana for medical purposes etc etc etc. Shortly after the Gov signed the gay marriage law, he was touted as possible Presidential material...so therein lies our priorities??!
I am a right wing wacko, by your definition and if I had my way YOU would know what is right and what is wrong. Morals are a natural and normal guidance for your life. Most people have a strong moral compass and would not need many of the laws we have today. Then there are the lawyeristic types that can make any immoral act seem like it is a natural occurrence. I ask you is that truly the right thing to do? Is it who makes the better argument even wrongfully or the truly natural and rightful laws of nature and the morality that ensues. I do not have a problem at all with people doing as they want, marrying whoever or whatever that they want as long as they do not invade or degrade my personal values or morals. It is not I that may one day have to stand before your maker and explain your sins. It is also your right to say that you do not believe in a maker, a lord or creator...
Bob: It's amazing that someone as nasty as you thinks he's the king of morality!! Isn't kindness an important part of morality?

If marriage is a moral and socal issue, the government should not have anything to do with marriage.

WHOA, Peaceful, to me it appears that MrBoB and I merely seem to have at least one or two morals that just won't go away. Morals that were not so long ago considered standard issue by society. Society has become a bottomless pit where anything goes and we all better embrace it all or be considered bigots and racists. Too much stuff gets a public nod because it is 2014 and for no other reason
Bring back the Constitution, God, guns and a moral society.

I wonder why the idea of morality scares getreal and peaceful so much. Maybe it's because neither of you have any idea how to live and voice your convictions, you have to rely on then emulate somebody elses, hence..you agree you ARE sheep and indoctrinated libs..YOU, not everybody. Now that you've cleared that up for us do either of you have any thoughts of your own? Anything that hasn't been stamped, delineated and approved by your progressive masters? Something original perhaps? You are what you make of yourself so embrace your individuality and stand up for your convictions with something more than just repetitive name-calling. Just once try to post a coherent opinion on the topic.
Drugs, despite the wishful thinking of progressives, the Constitution, God, guns and morality will never go away. Other than free willed individuals standing up against their absurdities this IS what scares them.. the fact that Authoritarian Statism ie. Central Govt Control has never succeeded wherever and whenever it's been tried but there are those in every two or three generations that believe THEY can make it work. You know the type, the self-anointed arbiters of right and wrong along with the incoherent self-proclaimed intelligensia. History is replete with fools who could never make it work but that does not stop them from trying, so here we are today. The same failed ideas with new faces and voices that ironically our Constitution allows to be heard.

I believe that liberals or progressives whatever you want to call them and gays are like the Black people. Sure there are many qualities that they possess that they should be proud of. But there are so many problems that they cannot control (and I am not talking skin color here because that is just the excuse to yell racist) like violent behavior, drug use and other criminal behavior makes them lass than willing to embrace their heritage. You call a white man cracker and he is likely to say yes please I use them in my soup. You call a liberal a lib and they go off on you for name calling and racist... many of the liberals that I know are as white old and balding as I am. I cannot help that they believe in communism and simply wrong on politics and are embarrassed by it. You see it is not the color, not the country or origin that insults us intrinsically, it is the mistakes that our ancestors made that define our being, the continuation of those practices that makes us repel our past.
To Peaceful, Hill, bereal, getreal and anyone else here who tot labels as progressive/libs. After reading tot's last post, are you smiling as much as I am. Drugs and Bob...just curious, would you care to comment on tot's post????
Oh Please Laker go ahead and say it "you heard it here first"! I doubt it... but lets hear you voice YOUR thoughts on it! What do YOU have to say?

Ignorance and prejudice comes from not understanding something or taking the time to research. You are born gay, and you are born whatever color you happen to be made. For all of those religious people out there, God made you that way. Now if God made you that way you should not have to live with a cross to bare, or be punished for who you happen to be. Ignorance is followed by hatred because they think they are somehow better or have a grasp on things when in reality they are just relying on their the only truths known to them. I think gay people should marry. It is hurting no one.

And Laker on your OTHER favorite topic did you see the article...
The sea ice surrounding Antarctica has been steadily increasing throughout the period of satellite measurement that began in 1979, has hit a new all-time record high for areal coverage. The new record anomaly for Southern Hemisphere sea ice, the ice encircling the southernmost continent, is 2.074 million square kilometers and was posted for the first time by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign’s The Cryosphere Today early Sunday morning. The previous record anomaly for Southern Hemisphere sea ice area was 1.840 million square kilometers and occurred on December 20, 2007. Global sea ice area, as of Sunday morning, stood at 1.005 million square kilometers above average.
