getreal, I'm not saying that everyone shouldn't have the same rights. The problem is people demanding rights that aren't there in the first place, crying discrimination where there is none.

drugs, Since I believe raising children is one of the most important, and also one of the most difficult jobs one can undertake, the sexual preferences of parents don't concern me as much as the dedication and commitment of the parents...straight or gay. If you think it's wrong for gays to raise children, so be it, that's your opinion. I may be getting a bit offtrack here since this topic relates to a federal issue, but as I noted before, my concern is one of priorities...NYS is in economic trouble, no matter how our politicains try to spin it. Our system of educational funding is completely inefficient and inequitable. Yet our legislature devotes hours and hours on gay marriage, medical uses for marijuana etc etc. And on the local level, we waste multi millions on idiotic bridges. Is this the best the Empire State can do?

It seems like we are still in the 1950's, given the comments and positions of some of the more conservative posters. Thank God (just an expression) the world is moving in the opposite direction.

and as far as gays raising children.... not a good thing. Teaching them (with books) that " Billy has 2 dads" or ".... 2 mommies" is soooo wrong on lots of levels. How about the lesbians giving their young adopted son female hormones because he really wants to be a girl???? That's child abuse, but in this screwed up society it seems OK -- at least they aren't beating the kid.

Did you know that we (as in America) have 5 openly gay foreign ambassadors ? and the administration is actively looking for the first transgendered one????

Things were much better in the 1950s.

well BoB, that prostate exam is a non issue for getreal. In a post below she said she has been "married for 21 years to my wonderful husband". Females don't get that opportunity.

Getreal, you might want to reconsider your last post. Liberal/progressives spend a great deal of effort and time trying to control what you eat, think, drink, and do in the privacy of your home. Even to the point of using the invented excuse that gays are born gay, no proof but none is necessary..it's more of their fake facts designed to shut people up and calm the sheep. I for one don't like it but after you go for your prostate exam let me know if you feel the same about being treated differently. This is about control of society, not gays getting married. Once progressives think they have some traction on this issue they will forget about gays and just as they do with blacks and their other 'victims' they will only bring them out when its convenient to their narrative. Gays are just the most recent pawns in the progressive game of winning by subversion what they cannot possibly win otherwise.

Drugs "Everyone" is different it doesn't mean that because you are different you should be treated different! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean that they shouldn't be treated and afforded the same rights! I don't like carrots, but I don't stop the store from selling them or other people from eating them.

getreal, I guess it is math that defines a couple today. My 41 yr. old son is married and has 2 great and smart daughters. So I haven't had to consider that "what if...." and I'm probably glad that I didn't.

Living where I do with fairly large cities a few minutes away and the Philadelphia metro area about an hour down the road. the local newspaper hardly go a week without a front section page touting a gay pride parade, or all the LBGTXZKR or whatever gathering in some park. Turn on the news and "gays demonstrated....."

I'm part of the only group that it is OK to discriminate against - white heterosexual males over 50

Wow people, you are really working hard to get me to be accepting of the 2014 new normal. BUT let me pose a question. -- Don't you think it odd that a "lifestyle" that has been around almost forever, whose participants previously accepted the fact that they were different, yet knew that they didn't fit into what was considered normal, yet managed to survive and mingle in society has in about a decade become a political and social force demanding that everybody celebrate their lifestyle or be considered a bigot??

Nope Drugs wrong again I have been happily married for 21 years to my wonderful husband and have three wonderful children that if they came to me and told me they were gay I wouldn't even blink an eye! Whatever makes them happy !!! Who defines a couple.....You define yourself!

drugs...Wow, talk about insecurity!! I am simply trying to engage you in a civil discussion, and asking you to clarify your statements...your resorting to an insulting tone and refusing to answer makes one wonder if you can indeed justify your position. I'm not even being critical of your opinion, even though I heartily disagree. You can't even answer a simple question!!?...such as do you consider it wrong for 2 men or 2 women to walk down the street holding hands...and if so, isn't that "treating them differently." Also, just curious, what do you think about gay couples raising children?

I have to say that I have NEVER witnessed a gay couple who were "in my face with it at every turn." So, Drugs, I don't know where you're hanging out that this is such an issue.

drugs...what do you mean that they "are not in your face with it at every turn" and "they act like humans" and "most put their gayness up front for everyone to see" When you see a man and woman holding hands, you'd think nothing of it. But when 2 men or 2 women are holding hands, is that what you mean by "putting it up front for the world to see." Do you consider that to be "wrong"...if so, aren't you treating them differently?

7443nb, such a nice thought. My wife and I have been married 44 yrs. We know, and she has worked with, a few gay people of both sexes. Do I treat them differently? no. BUT they are not in my face with it at every turn. They act like human beings, which is a rarity in todays LBGTSCHXZ (or whatever) society. Most put their "gayness" up front for everybody to see and be a part of -- "be elated for me or else". Why was this not an issue 25 years ago????? Love anybody you want, BUT you DO NOT have a Constitutional "right" to marry a person of your same gender. Did anybody ever even consider that heterosexual people also do not have a constitutional right to marry either??????? Many of these "rights" are God given. The government gives you no rights, our Constitution restricts the government, which many people think is wrong today -- welcome to Soetoroland

I definitely agree. Who are we to tell another human being who to love. Gays are born gay just as heterosexuals are born heterosexual. All they want is to love and be loved as we all do. We need more compassion and acceptance in this world. You may think only a man and a woman should marry. Well, if you believe the statistic, that isn't working very well. 50% of heterosexual marriages end in divorce. I am a woman and I am married to a man. We have been married 33 years. I hope the same for every human being on this earth. Please people, stop being haters. Personally, I love gay guys. Always have and I tell them so. They make the best of friends. Don't want anything other than to be my friend. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Imagine that you were born gay and had to live in this world with so many ignorant people making you life miserable. Let's stop treating gays as a different class as realize that we are all equal and treat each other as such.

This is where the president should get his news from. He could be up to date a lot faster than his current gatherings.

Perennial ratings victor Fox News Channel celebrates a new milestone this week: It just wrapped its 50th consecutive quarter (and 150th consecutive month) as the most watched cable news network in both total day and primetime.

no TOT, I'm still around. I'm actually on your side now. You have won me over with your convincing arguments. I am now as intolerant as you and your 2 sidekicks. I have no tolerance for anyone different then I am and those poor people? Well they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps, get a job and be productive like the 4 of us did.

and those blacks that still enslave their own people. Who cares? As for the gays? If we let them marry, it'll be like those interracial marriages that have destroyed my marriage and yours. Put them all in caves, I say!

I, like you 3, have had it!!! I'm tired of big government!! One final JEERS to big government. How dare they make GM take back all these cars. Let the free market prevail. If you want to risk dying then that's your choice. I'm tired of the government telling everyone, including huge corporations, what they can and can't do. ENOUGH

Thank you for straightening me out, my friend.

The thing about facts is one doesn't have believe or not believe in them. They just exist to be observed - no interpretation required. You seemed to have confused "subjective" with "objective". I have referred to behaviors observed repeatedly across various species. Facts. Being gay is just one of nature's many wondrous variations. Like being liberal.

ooohhh getreal,"People should be afforded the same rights as all...." yeah, a couple has been defined as one he and one she. Alternative lifestyles have been around much longer than you or I have. The participants in those lifestyles used to maintain some a bit of humility and accept that Main St. USA not where they belonged. Now they have taken over Main St. and anybody who is not elated about that is a bigot. I choose to maintain my hetero lifestyle and I really don't need the LGBRQXVT or whatever in my face at every turn.

Your constant defense leads me to believe you are one of "them"

People should be afforded the same rights as all....Hey Drugs were you gay and then woke up one morning and said to yourself gee today I will choose not to be gay anymore! Because I can see you certainly chose to be a bigot. I choose not to believe in all the tall tales of Adam and Eve and Noah's ark, however I don't care that others believe! I can Not see how this law will affect anyone who is against it. What does it matter, just to simply say we don't need another Law..Just because you might think it immoral There are many people who will think who cares what you think!
