They are going to sell this China made crap everywhere anyway so they might just as well take the money!

I would much rather see admission fees and a gift shop that support the upkeep of the facility than tax payer’s money.

The only people that should be supporting this "gift shop" are Muslims and those who think the attack was deserved

The gift shop itself isn't distasteful, but a lot of the junk they are selling is. If they were selling nice respectful memorial items it would be better. Stupid souvenir knick knacks are disrespectful to those victims that are still buried there.

Reminds me of the magnetic flags from China that everyone had on their cars to support our troops over seas. China made money off that also.

The whole idea seems odd to me. A memorial I would understand but a museum? It just does not feel right. A gift shop even less so.

Whether or not it is distasteful should come from the families who lost their loved ones.

McBoob, your constant effort to bring the discussion to your limited agenda gets very old and tiresome.

From their website- "All net proceeds from our sales are dedicated to developing and sustaining the National September 11 Memorial & Museum. Thank you for helping to build a lasting place for remembrance, reflection, and learning for years to come."

Any proceeds are going to support the memorial. People buy souvenirs all the time to show their support for various wars, political parties, religious beliefs, etc. Why not a tee shirt to show that you haven't forgotten the 911 attacks? It is the American way.

Now if the money actually gets to the fund that it is intended... the real problem at hand!

You want distasteful?...Ever been to the Vatican?...There's a gift shop conveniently placed just before leaving the tour. They actually sell bottles of "holy water"...there's one price for "regular" holy water, and a higher price for holy water "blessed by the pope."

How about the "pope on a rope shower soap" that claims to make you feel heavenly?
