Saying a prayer before a council meeting is nothing but a show put on by the conservative Christian hypocrites who sincerely believe that they conduct themselves with god's blessings.

Hill, still off your meds I see. I'm far from as religious as I should or could be given my Roman Catholic up bringing. The Constitution simply states that there will be no government religion. There are many sects to Christianity (Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran, Presbyterian, et al) The founders were deeply devout (many were Quakers)and openly prayed for vision as to the future of this once great country. Their spirits are doing a lot of head shaking and given the whole of what "WE the people" have allowed our government to become, they would have been shooting a while ago as the 2nd amendment calls for and the reason for it. -- The answer is --YES

The only prayer they should say is a prayer of forgiveness for the sins they are about to commit.

Every time I hear or read that the US is a Christian nation, I want to puke. This country is a melting pot of many races and religions, and people with no religion. I find it completely offensive to start any meeting with a Christian prayer. Being religious is perfectly fine, but keep your religion to yourself, and don't impose your beliefs on others who may not agree with you.

Here we go with more of the founding fathers' crap. Druggy, unless you lived during the 1770's you don't have a clue as to what they were really thinking about when they "prayed". It took 150 years for women to get the right to vote and 180 for blacks to be recognized as human beings. That the type of "devine guidance" I'm afraid of.

ADKman, go ahead and puke. But the founders also gave you the freedom FROM religion if that is your choice. It is part of being free. And at one time this country was a melting (or it could be melding) pot. Everybody's different culture added to the spice of the American stew and it WAS great. But somehow today with all the political correctness and things like Subway no longer offering pork products because it offends Muslims and nobody assimilating to our American culture but demanding WE accept whatever their culture is, America has become more of a chamber pot.

Hill, the founding documents are still what leads us. We the people need to take the country back and when people get elected hold their feet to the fire to adhere to the oath of office and represent the electorate and NOT their big $$$ donors. And it should start with King Barry and the rest of his criminal gang

Ever stop and think how many times every one of us invoke Judeo-Christian Religion? Whenever you say 'd*mn you'.. your doing it. Or 'J-esus, now what?'. Additionally, as long as there are tests, there will be prayers in school. We 'practice' Religion because nobody ever gets it right all the time. That's why we pray.

ADKman, while puking over Religion, letting yourself be offended by Religious activities is called (ahem) God given free-will and is not dispensed by Government fiat.

here we go, Drugs claims Subway no longer sells pork products, once again, not necessarily true: "In the United States, Subway has only a handful of kosher franchises that do not carry pork products or serve dairy with meat.

In the United Kingdom and Ireland, fewer than 200 out of 1,500 Subway sandwich franchises conform to Muslim dietary restrictions: their meat suppliers are certified halal, and no pork products are used. There are currently no halal Subway franchises in the United States."

Of course Drugs will say that the fact he posted something that was only partially true is a moot point. Facts don't matter to him and MrBob

wow Clue, nice of you to work so hard to prove me wrong. BUT it was in the news that Subway in Great Britain was in the process of removing ALL pork products from the menu, and the reason given was that it offended the Muslims.

I can do this all in one post

Please explain what is wrong with thinking that the founders had it right.

and yup, even those scoundrels that the evil Koch brothers contributed to.

I remember when people would allow others to do what they believed in. It was a part of everyday life where tolerance was just a moment of your day when you could be considerate to a fellow human being. Today you have to fit the mold, the one that everyone HAS to fit into. It is not tolerated when you do something that was always allowed simply because others were polite enough to let you have your moment of beliefs. It has become a hatefest! A passion for intolerance that has buried the times that we could forgive someone their moments of belief in anything... a very hateful world that we live in now. I want the "old" ways back, when right was actually right and people could discuss a topic without the name calling and hateful personal attacks that are the normal today. Congratulations on the transformation of our existence to the political correctness, hatred spewing lives we must now endure.

LOL..OK Drugs, almost NO work was necessary to prove your statement not true. In fact NO WHERE does it say Subway in England is banning ALL pork products, but of course facts don't matter to you as you prove time and time again. All you have to do is cite your source for your "facts" and please show where I stated the founders had it wrong. Once again, I know comprehension is not your strong point so I'll bear with you while you search again.

Glad I am now your focus here.

BOB, after reading the letter to the editor, I just sent my donation check to the Gloversville Memorial Day Parade committee, because I care about our community, did you send yours in yet? will you also be donating your time to help with the festivities? or is being a hypocrite all you do?

Subway removes ham and bacon from nearly 200 stores and offers halal meat only after 'strong demand' from Muslims 185 branches across UK and Ireland now sell halal-only meat Halal refers to objects or actions permissible under Islamic law Pork is forbidden and while other meat can be eaten, it must be sourced, slaughtered and processed according to strict rules Subway said all halal meat served in its branches has come from animals that were stunned before being slaughtered Halal-only menu is in response to 'strong demand' from Muslim customers

The real killer for Subway is... They probably won’t promote their 6-inch big hot pastrami sandwich, but the Subway chain of restaurants is partnering with first lady Michelle Obama’s campaign to persuade kids to eat healthier meals. Subway and the first lady’s office announced a three-year commitment Thursday in support of Mrs. Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign. The sandwich shops will promote efforts aimed at getting children to eat more fruits and vegetables.
