Since all research indicates that texting is about 6th on the list of distractions let's start with 1 and 2, arguing with children and playing with the radio.

Finally there is a law that makes stupid illegal. I also heard that they want to make it illegal to surf the net while driving. How are you supposed to get anything done ? Soon there will be a law saying you can't play Candy Crush while driving. does it ever end???

A little off topic - They even convicted Whitey Bolger, you just can't catch a break these days

Now all we need is seventyfive new cops per road mile to enforce this new law. Maybe a device that renders phones inoperable while the vehical is in gear would serve us better?

When will they find the time to catch the real criminals? For those of you wondering who they are... Murders, rapists, drug dealers, etc.

Someday you will have the right to an attorney, the right to remain silent, if you give up that right (the only one left) everything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law...

TOT, today it's 'anything you may say has already been taken down as evidence against you'. Anyhow this is just a different iteration of whats already Traffic and Safety Laws. Besides, technology exists to make this 'problem' moot so, as you may have already guessed, this is just ANOTHER of many New York State money grabs. When the Po-Po stop speeding and texting while driving and harassing law abiding citizens with 'road checks' and start policing THEMSELVES maybe somebody will take this seriously.

I believe that for every law that is passed they should be required to remove one. What would you say the enforcement rate is for the laws on the books? This new rule making government is for the... Liberal loonies!

nowday's the truth behind the new law's goes something like this:

ask 1 question right off.... WHO does this law benifit......

YOUR insurance Co. that's who. in the event you crash while on the phone. guess who NOW doesn't have to pay for your mistake?

same with D.W.I. or any other moving violation that we see everyday ignored by the man.

or something like that.... it sure aint cause safer roads for the victims is needed... it's politics at it's finest...

While we are at it we should dig deeper canals along the roads so we can endanger ourselves if the car breaks down.

Texting and Driving is as dangerous if not more dangerous than drinking and driving. All would feel different if they were in my shoes. I was in a vehicle hit by a texting driver. I have injuries that will impact the rest of my life. I have lost my ability to perform a long-time job and have had to change careers at a lower wage. I cannot do things that I used to be able to do. I*****sure hope the text was super important and couldn't wait. By the way, the texting driver walked away uninjured.

I believe that the laws we have in place now are sufficient. They are pretty strict.

All we need now is enough money to hire liberal police officers to enforce every pickyunnnnnnnni law that progressives pass. Then build more and bigger jails to hold all the criminals that jay walk while it will be legal to smoke dope but not cigarettes. Or us drugs but not beer... I am not sure how this all got twisted but I believe if we wait long enough, everything twisted will be considered normal.

Taxedtoomuch, nobody is condoning it or approving the practice. People that do this are worse than most drunk drivers. But police patrols should be able to spend more time on uninsured, unlicensed, drivers and suspended plates. One municipality in my area smaller in area than J'town or G'ville gets sometimes 3 or 4 a day on those charges. There are other real crimes to be looked into besides catching stupid people
