Does anyone have an update on the former marine who was beaten to death by 4 men in Georgia around the same time as this Tryvon-Zimmerman incident? I'm not being sarcastic here, nothing is being said at all ... I really want to know what happened to the individuals who killed this brave, selfless man who served our country - 2 tours in Iraq.

CHICAGO - This past week President Obama publicly urged the reexamination of state self-defense laws (see remarks below). However, nine years ago then-State Sen. Barack Obama actually co-sponsored a bill that strengthened Illinois' 1961 "stand your ground" law.

The Obama-sponsored bill (SB 2386) enlarged the state's 1961 law by shielding the person who was attacked from being sued in civil court by perpetrators or their estates when a "stand your ground" defense is used in protecting his or her person, dwelling or other property.

There is nothing more painful for me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start to think about robbery and then look around and see it’s somebody white and feel relieved. The Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Dave the lie was the skittles, wrong is what you are about all the rest. I call a liar a liar every time I see it and as far as I know this is the first time that I witnessed you blatantly tell a whopper. Go back to being wrong it looks a lot better than liar!

TOT- you started the name calling by calling me a progressive liar. You said there was no photographs of a dead Trayvon Martin. I showed you wrong. You said there was no SYG in the trial. I showed you wrong. You continue to post falsehoods and continue to name call. You can dish it out but can't take it.

It doesn't matter a whit if Trayvon was a gangsta wannabe. The bottom line is that he was doing nothing wrong when Zimmerman confronted him. Since there were no witnesses, we will never know whether Martin was the aggressor or not. Did Martin attack Zimmerman unprovoked, or was he fighting for his life? We will never know Martin's side of the story.

With SYG laws becoming common, and with Zimmerman getting off scott free, I think that young black males should all arm themselves. The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, right?

TiredOfTax - you're a bigot. Really, whatever you say in this case is irrelevant considering where you're coming from.

George Zimmerman was on trial, not Trayvon Martin.

Testifying in the Geoge Zimmerman trial, prosecution witness Rachel Jeantel, 19, who says she was on the phone with Trayvon Martin before he was shot, explained that Martin told her that a “creepy ass cracker” was following him. According to Jeantel, Martin was worried that Zimmerman was a rapist, and said to “stop playing with him like that.” He also told Jeantel, she said, that the “n—– is now following him.”

Maybe that part "the “n—– is now following him.” says it all... right before he attacked ZIMMERMAN!

Trayvon Martin. Martin was 5’11 and 158 lbs. at the time, while George Zimmerman clocked in at a clinically obese 5’7” and 204 lbs.

Hey Dave, how do you account for the multiple injuries suffered by Zimmerman and the only wound found on Martin was the gunshot to the chest? seems like in a fair fight there would be poundings going both ways, not one sided.

SANFORD -- As thousands of people gathered here to demand an arrest in the Trayvon Martin case, a more complicated portrait began to emerge of a teenager whose problems at school ranged from getting spotted defacing lockers to getting caught with a marijuana baggie and women’s jewelry.

Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described silver wedding bands and earrings with diamonds. Trayvon was asked if the jewelry belonged to his family or a girlfriend. “Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” he responded, according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend. Trayvon was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to the report. School police impounded the jewelry and sent photos of the items to detectives at Miami-Dade police for further investigation.

TOT- so Zimmerman could pull four people out of an overturned car, but couldn't get a 140 pound 17 year old off his chest?

These are YOUR WORDS, MrBob- "For the record dave, stand your ground had NOTHING to do with this case and was never mentioned except by the media and then Holder."

Nothing to do with this case? It had everything to do with this case per the judge's instructions.

Poor conservatives just keep on denying facts while they cling to their false beliefs.

HERO!

Zimmerman was one of two men who came to the aid of a family of four -- two parents and two children -- trapped inside a blue Ford Explorer SUV that had rolled over after traveling off the highway in Sanford, Fla. at approximately 5:45 p.m. Thursday, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The crash occurred at the intersection of I-4 and route Route 46, police said. The crash site is less than a mile from where Zimmerman shot Martin.

By the time police arrived, two people - including Zimmerman - had already helped the family get out of the overturned car, the sheriff's office said. No one was reported to be injured.

Poor dave just does not realize that the accusation of being wrong by a liberal is, to me, a compliment. So tell us dave, which side brought Stand Your Ground Laws into the trial? The Defense, the prosecution? Jury instructions regarding self defense are just that, not testimony. Racism and race baiters lost big time. Defending ones self and The Rule of Law, not liberal emotions, won. So you hate the outcome but no amount of crying, twisting of words, or bombastic liberal emotional outbursts will change the verdict. Holder will keep his 'investigation' open until the next Presidential election to keep liberals and race baiters going, hoping against hope that there will be a different outcome. That will not happen so I stand by my first comment: Let Mr. Martin rest in peace; let Mr Zimmerman live in peace. Now dave, can you stomach that or will you continue to rail at imaginary boogymen??

Wow. Such a hostile crowd.

The photo of Martin lying dead is all over the internet. By his left hand is his bag of skittles- newsball dot com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/trayvondead2.jpg

MrBob- do you make it a habit to be wrong all the time? This is part of the judges instructions to the jury - "If George Zimmerman was not engaged in an unlawful activity and was attacked in any place where he had a right to be, he had no duty to retreat and had the right to stand his ground and meet force with force".

You righties tend to shoot from the hip without knowing the facts.

I just shake my head and curse the auto correct!
