I really cannot believe 41% are against it. I think the predators when jailed need to be placed into a drug induced coma for the full time of their sentence. It will cut down on the burden to society to house and feed them. No chance of escape, no chance of harassing the victim or the family. I bet you could increase the capacity of each cell by placing them in on slabs and stack them. Actually not a bad idea for most convicts! No Prison riots, no knifing of correction officers, no escapes, no wasted trips to court, less food, lower heating bills, no free cable TV, no free medical…the list is endless. While asleep, we can tattoo their foreheads like someone else mentioned.

There should be a statute of limitations on how long these questions are allowed to vegetate too.

Im not against anything when it comes to the slugs of society...however all these things cost the "taxpayer" money (jail, Courtsystem) which all of you are so against.

Jail yes long and hard as well as a tattoo on their forehead saying that they are deviant sex offenders, costing society anything more. Not a dime! Why you see the need to throw money out the window makes no sense at all.

So even in cases of child sexual abuse, you guys are still worried about your wallet. I guess your money is more important than our children. Just reinforces what a mess our society is. These predators who get out of jail quickly after sexually abusing children, NEED to be in the court system forever.

What is truly horrific is that many times lawsuits aren't paid by the person that is sued, it is the ever hated insurance companies. That costs us all in higher premiums. Lawsuits are generally someone trying to cash in on someone elses misfortune. The get rich quick scams need to be eliminated.

How does a civil suit, teach anyone about anything? Outside from the bottom feeding lawyers, its a lose - lose. The child was still abused, and the abuser had nothing to lose in the first place. So now the victim and their lawyer get lots of money, and we get to pick up the tab. Lawsuits solve NOTHING! Its purely punitive.

I don't think that it matters that this is about "lawsuits." The statute of limitations still needs to be lifted so that a lawsuit can happen ANYTIME - not just within the first seven years (or whatever the time frame is). These predators need to be punished in every way possible until this country realizes that euthanization of these guys is the only way to take care of the issue.

Ah yes... the ever popular lawsuit. Where would America be without them? Thanks for the clarification.

It is about "child sex-abuse lawsuits" not prosecution... I made the same mistake a few days ago!

Who would ever suggest otherwise? Im appalled, that somehow NYS has one to lift. I wonder how that one slipped through.

there are so many horrible crimes, but this one is one of the worst. and what makes it even more so is the fact is that so many - can we say most of them - of the abusers go unpunished. it has to stop. the statute of limitations must be lifted. even animal abusers get more convictions than child abusers.

It should be lifted. Some children are so traumatized that they don't remember for years what happend to them and they block it out. Then if the statue is up, the person who commited the crime does not get in any trouble and have to account for his/her actions. Please help us protect our children and grandchildren by saying this is NOT ok and one day you will have to account for your actions.

You hurt a kid this way & it should hang over your head till the day you die. If it were up to me, you'd never again see the light of day..... or worse.

Our country is so lenient with people who sexually abuse children - it's appalling, disgusting, and horrifying. It ruins a child's whole life. If it takes some of these traumatized children longer to come forward - so be it. A statute of limitations in these cases does not make sense.
