Quite amusing, Dbags, but do we expect anything less from the highest representatives of a "failed state"?!

You bet. First off, he admitted it, great! So that means he is now known as honest. Good for his ego. Now comes the "I also used marijuana and cocaine." What next, he is a 3 time felon and was paroled for good behavior? How much do we have to endure as a state before we decide a person on death row should be governor? But hey on the positive side at least he's honest.

i "care" much more that he was honest and has repented and reconciled with his wife, that is a trait sorely needed in all our leaders

Everyone from a laborer to a ceo of a cmpany is screwing someone. If the news media would shut up maybe this country would become strong again.

Gov. Patterson and his wife both made mistakes while they were seperated and going through a hard time in their marriage. This cannot be held against them unlike Gov. Spitzers actions which were not only an act of carelessness, but also illegal. I only hope that he serves this state well and that he makes correct moral decisions that will better New York rather than making a mockery of it as the past Governors have.

All of us are "judgmental" every waking moment - if we were not, chaos would prevail and society as we know it would not be viable. Leaders who transgress in a manner which is unacceptable to a significant majority are not judged "over and over". They are judged once, found wanting, and are summarily dismissed, as was ex-governor Spitzer. Other leaders which a significant majority deem to be unacceptable will meet the same fate. As far as "working together" is concerned, the body politic can "work together" in the future to nominate candidates who embody characteristics which espouse much higher standards.

The results show just were we are headed ! We are more worried about animal abuse than people who destroy lives of whole families thru their own lust.

The society is the way it is because of people not being honest!! People quit needing to be so judgemental. Why is it that others think politicians should be perfect!! Well, sorry folks they are human and they all screw up too. We need to face it. Yes, they are representing our state, and they need to set the example, however................ They still have a personal life. There is NO Honest Politican or any perfect person. Keep dwelling on it doesn't change the fact that it happened, who cares!!!! Are you so perfect that you've never made a mistake and want to be judged over and over for it. Let's move on and try to get this state of ours back under control. It not only takes the Politicians, it takes us people to all work together!!!

Wow, it would appear that the current results of this poll and some of the opinions of those making comments indicate that 74% of the people may not care if values are taught. This may explain why our society is in the state that it is in.

Not at all. Why should it be? Every relationship is different...if they resolved their differences and chose to remain in their partnership, Good for them. A lot of people could learn from his example. Admit your mistake and move on from it. My main concern is that he's able to govern our state. If your concerned about children learning of his affair, its YOUR responsibility to raise your children and teach them values - NOT THE GOVERNMENT!

I feel at least he was honest to come forward with this info on his own. That in itself says a lot.Who knows if he would have been exposed or not.

Country girl's on the right track - yes, it's not always about kids, yes SOME mistakes can be forgiven and judgmentalism not backed up by a sound understanding of how government is supposed to work is self-defeating. Every NY State tax-paying resident should be appalled how our state has conducted business for the past 35 years, due to sins of omission and commission. NY State's only answer to its problems over this time period has been to raise taxes and SPEND MORE. Moral courage has been absent and the state's functioning has been subjected to the "let's get mine" syndrome. This has resulted in sub-par leadership which is reflected by many of our current problems. Wake up, NY State voters, or the state can RIP.

The point is you can't change what is out there in the real world. It happens, you can't hide kids from knowing what is going on. It's NOT always about kids. It's about how this state is going to recover and get back on track for our kids and our sake. Yes, kids are very perceptive, no doubt, but the fact remains that things happen, it's part of life. There are no perfect people in this world. And as stated, It definitely is not right what either of them did, however, it happened and you can't change it. THEY need to deal with it and this state needs to overcome the hurdles it's facing. Give the guy credit, he was honest about it. How many would stand in front of thousands of people and admit to having affairs. Would you? I'm not sure I would...... We need to move on. The problem in this world is that to many people are judgemental and NOT WILLING to forgive for mistakes.

What planet is Michael 13339 orbiting? Kids are very perceptive, and the messages that a dysfunctional family structure sends is picked up immediately by them, even though they may not verbalize their feelings. The character of an organization (including a Family or a State) suffuses throughout that organization from the top on down. Pray for New York State - #2 is following hot on #1's tracks!

It is ironic that Gov. Spitzer had to resign because he got caught paying someone for letting him do to her what all those clowns in Albany have been doing to us, and charging us for the service.

I thought I would never say this, but, I'm glad we still have the old fasion voting booths. I would suggest, however we replace the current curtains with plastic and a showerhead should be installed because voting for these morally bankrupt, knucle dragging mouth-breathers sure is making me feel dirty.

It sends a message that not all mariages are like fairytales and that some do have problems?..Why is it that everything has to do with our kids? The only kids this will effect are the ones who know about the political world, ones that are old enough to know what "affair's" means. So for cryin' out loud, what is your point?..I have kids and they haven't come to me and asked why did he have an affair, know why...I don't think they really care. And at this point I don't really care either!!!

Great point Countrygirl,I feel the same way,and I think that it is great that we was open and honest about it all..We all know that if he hadn't come out with it when he did,we all would have heard about it later on,the media and the press would make sure of that.

Who really cares how many affairs he has had! That is between him and his wife and is their personel business. As long as he does his job and gets this state back under control and his wife forgives him, and then so be it. The reason he HAD the affairs is because they were having problems in their marriage and SHE had one first, NOT that it makes it right, but it isn't always the man's fault---No, I'm not a man, I'm a woman, but I see just as many women out there having affairs while the man is home taking care of the kids!!
