NEW YORK (AP) — A daredevil is awaiting arraignment after police said he climbed to the top of the Brooklyn Bridge and took photos with his smartphone. It was the second security breach at the span in less than a month.
Yaroslav Kolchin's arraignment was expected in Brooklyn on Monday, after the stunt Sunday afternoon. It's unclear whether he has a lawyer.
Police say they spotted the 24-year-old ascending a cable beam from the Brooklyn side of the bridge at about 12:15 p.m. Sunday. They say he reached the top of the tower and was seen taking pictures as officers responded.
Officers met Kolchin as he descended. He's been arrested on reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and other charges.
On July 22, two American flags were swiped from the bridge and replaced with white ones.
