Elizabeth Lee DeCicco Ovitt, 70, formerly of Gloversville, NY, passed on to her eternal rest on August 28, with her children by her side.
Born on May 19, 1944, Liz was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Gertrude DeCicco.
She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and had retired from Stanford Hospital, Connecticut, as an executive assistant. Liz loved to cook, trying out recipes from her collection of cookbooks. She also enjoyed watching old movies. Liz was a true animal lover, leaving behind her beloved dog, Belle. Throughout the ups and downs of Liz's life, she always kept a positive attitude and never lost her great sense of humor.
Survivors are her son, Michael Balzano (Pam); her daughter, Lynn Probert (Tom); her grandchildren, Jessica Insogna and Cara, Nicholas and Kailyn Balzano; Kevin Ovitt, her aunt, Millie; and many cousins and friends. Liz will be greatly missed by her family and her cousin, Donna Emmrich (who loved her like a sister). She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Angelo.
A memorial service will be held at the Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville, NY on Thursday, September 4, at 8 p.m. The family will receive family and friends from 6 to 8 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to James A. Brennan Memorial Humane Society, 437 Nine Mile Tree Road, Gloversville, NY 12078. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of her family.
