Mrs. June E. Ropan, 86, formerly of Gloversville, passed away August 18, 2014, at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home, where she had been a resident the past few years. She was born June 3, 1928, in Mayfield, daughter of the late Frank and Ida Eschler Zimmerman. June graduated from Mayfield High School and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse. She was subsequently employed as secretary and bookkeeper at Winig Slipper Co. and also for Sission Box Co. in Gloversville.
June retired following the birth of her children and was a very devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She was active at the former Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed her many friends and former neighbors on Lee Avenue.
Survivors include her daughters, Deborah Johnson (Chris) of Johnstown and Michele Datz (William) of St. Johnsville. June also leaves her grandchildren, Christina Johnson and Chad Johnson; as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey F. Ropan, whom she married October 21, 1950; a brother, Fay Zimmerman; and two sisters, Luella Craig and Alice Czupryk.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2014, at Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Reverend Wayne Cole officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service. Urn burial will be private, and at the convenience of her family.
