Stella G. Barrie, 78, of County Highway 110, Broadalbin, died Friday evening, July 25, 2014, at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, following a courageous fight with Parkinson's Disease.
She was born in Schenectady on July 5, 1936, a daughter of William and Gertrude Dolezek Thomas and was educated in local schools. Mrs. Barrie lived in Broadalbin for more than fifty years.
Stella was employed as a secretary at General Electric Co. and later at the Broadalbin Central School District, retiring in 1996.

She enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Robert H. Barrie Sr., whom she married on June 24, 1956; a son, Robert H. (Susanne) Barrie Jr. of La Fargeville; two daughters, Linda Balko of Schenectady and Lisa Dingman (Larry) of Broadalbin; a brother-in-law, Charles (Kate) Barrie of Schenectady; a sister-in-law, Eileen Rowley of Spanaway, WA; a cousin, Kathleen Kilmer of Cathedral City, CA; six grandchildren, Florian (Simone) Barrie, Jessica (James) Thompson, Michael (Cheryl) Balko, Eileen Barrie (Darryl), and Ashley and Ryan Dingman; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, in care of the funeral home.
