Ervila A. Peake, of Montgomery Terrace, Fonda, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday at her sister's home on McKay Road in the town of Perth.
Born May 4, 1940, in Lowville, New York, she was the daughter of the late Jerome Peake and Clara Eggloff Peake Veeder. Ervila was a graduate of the Fonda-Fultonville High School and later she graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a bachelor's degree in music. She also attended other colleges and universities to further her education in other fields of studies.
Ervila was employed as a hearing aide specialist for Miracle Ear at Sears in the Rotterdam Mall and Colonie Mall. After she worked for Bell Tone in Amsterdam until retiring a number of years ago.
Her passion was writing music and she could play any musical instrument. Ervila also enjoyed going to horse shows, reading, gardening and looked forward to the holidays.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased two sisters, Mildred Metott and Aretha Dicob Goodwin. Survivors include her adopted sister and good friend, Shirley VanHoesen of the town of Perth; several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats in Fonda, NY. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ervila's memory to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
