Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Bohne, 85, of Broadalbin, NY, loving wife and mother, passed away peacefully at the Cleveland Clinic, on July 03, 2014, with family by her side. She was the widow of former Fulton County Treasurer Allen R. Bohne.
Helen was born on Staten Island. She was a member of the New Dorp Moravian Church, Staten Island, where she met her husband Allen after he returned from serving in the Army during World War II. They were married on December 27, 1947, and celebrated a wonderful life together. She was active in the choir at New Dorp Moravian Church as well as the Broadalbin Methodist Church which she attended after moving to Broadalbin, NY in 1968. She served as a Red Cross Hospital Volunteer for 10 years on Staten Island.
Helen enjoyed working on Allen's political campaigns and with the Republican Party during Allen's many years of service to Fulton County. One of her fondest memories was when she and Allen befriended George and Barbara Bush while vacationing in Kennebunkport, Maine.
Helen worked as a pharmacy assistant for Almac Pharmacy, Staten Island and as a pharmacy assistant and bookkeeper for the Broadalbin Pharmacy from which she retired. She was preceded in death by her adoptive mother, Myra S. Barnes; her grandmother, Lola M. (Elton) Barnes and her husband Allen. She is survived by two sons, James (Marjorie) of Enfield, New Hampshire and Mark (Janet) of Milan, Ohio; one grandson, Matthew (Erin) Bohne of Norwalk, Ohio; one great-grandson, Isaac also of Norwalk, Ohio; and her biological sister, Dorothy (Clohessy) Fox of Escondido, California.
At Helen's request, the family will celebrate her life at a graveside service to be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 14, at the Broadalbin Cemetery, with the Rev. Judy Humphrey-Fox officiating, where interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.
