ALBANY - The Amsterdam Mohawks won for the 17th time in their last 18 games with an 8-0 win over the Albany Dutchmen in a Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League contest Monday at Bellizzi Field.
The second game of the doubleheader was suspended due to rain, with the score tied 2-2 in the top of the fifth. It was scheduled to be resumed Friday, prior to the regularly-scheduled game between the teams.
In the first game, the Mohawks scored twice in the first inning and five times in the third on their way to the win, which was their sixth straight.
Josh Gardiner was 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored for Amsterdam (19-7 overall), while JaVon Shelby was 2-for-4 with a double, RBI and a run scored.
The Mohawks finished with 12 hits in the game.
Jonathan Pryor added a triple and two RBIs for the Mohawks, while John Razzino was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Ryan Clark, Thomas Hackimer and Kevin Guthrie combined on a two-hitter for Amsterdam, with Hackimer earning the win. Hackimer improved to 3-0 on the season, allowing no hit, striking out three and walking two in two innings of work.
Adam Lee and Sean Aspinall had the only hits for Albany (12-13 overall).
Amsterdam is scheduled to host Albany today at 6:35 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park.
