In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Margaret (Peggy) Tartaglia; two dear brothers, Ernest Tartaglia and Albert Tartaglia; and little sister, Anna, who passed away when John was a very young child.

John was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville and a member and former trustee of the Catholic War Veterans. He was a member of the Concordia Club where he and his late wife (Peggy) enjoyed the company of friends on many Sunday afternoons. John was also a member of the Gloversville Senior Citizens where he and his longtime special pal, Sonny Guiffre enjoyed meeting up with a group of guys, drinking coffee, and shooting the breeze.
