Margaret A. Ralbovsky

Mrs. Margaret A. Ralbovsky, 88, of Gloversville, passed away July 5, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice House. She was born May 22, 1926, in Ephratah, daughter of the late Clarence and Myrtle Smith Knoblach. Margaret graduated from Johnstown High School in 1944 and established one of the first electrolysis businesses in the area, Electrolysis by Margaret operated on S. Main St. in Gloversville for many years. She and her late husband Antone "Tony" also operated House of The Rising Sun teenage club on S. Main St. Margaret loved life in general, especially music. She managed her son's band, The Novas, which was one of the top area bands in the 1960s, twice appearing at the New York State Fair. Margaret also loved harness horses and owned several including her favorite, Digger Dan which she raced at Saratoga.

Active in her community and always civic minded, Margaret was president of the former St. Francis de Sales School PTA and the Gloversville Zoning Board of Appeals. She was an avid fundraiser for the former Bishop Burke Catholic High School, a member of the Fulton County Republican Committee and a member of the Senator Hugh Farley election committee when he was first elected. She was also a Fulton County Election Inspector. Margaret had also been secretary to the Fulton County attorney and bookkeeper at the Quality Dairy.

She is survived by her son, Antone "Tony" Ralbovsky III of California; her grandchildren, Angelo Geraci, Ralph Geraci, Lisha Ann Geraci, Journey Ralbovsky; and two great-grandchildren. Margaret leaves three sisters, Diane Stegel (Joe) of Johnstown, Mary Shea of MA, and Bertha Hogg of Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Antone "Tony" Ralbovsky Jr., whom she married November 28, 1946; her siblings, Catherine Mraz, Reuben "Bud" Knoblach, Arthur Hill, and Edward "Red" Knoblach. She was also predeceased by a grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Ephratah Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville.

Margaret spent the past six years at Pineview Commons in Johnstown, where she was well cared for and enjoyed her extended family.
