FONDA - Two new Fonda-Fultonville Central School District Board of Education members will sit for the first time at the board meeting Monday night.
Board President Tim Wendell and board member John Wiltey both stepped down at the June 23 meeting.
Wendell has been a board member for 14 years, and Wiltey has been a member for 12 years. Wendell decided not to run for re-election this year, and Wiltey lost his bid for re-election in May.
New board members Michael Lewis and Dennis Egelston are set to be sworn in as members during Monday's organizational meeting.
Superintendent Raymond Colucciello gave commemorative plaques to Wendell and Wiltey during the last board meeting to thank them for their years of service.
Colucciello said both men have done a great service to the district and have been outstanding members of the board. He said board members do this job as a labor of love to the district and because they want to help the community.
"It has been a privileged to serve with these gentlemen," said board vice president Matt Sullivan.
Wendell said he has seen the district grow a great deal in his time on the board. He said the district has always strived to provide the best education possible.
"We have a great administration, a great staff and great students," Wendell said.
As one of his last acts as president of the board, Wendell was on hand at the June 28 Fonda-Fultonville High School graduations to give out diplomas to the departing seniors, many of whom were not even students when he first took office.
Lewis and Egelston will join the board Monday during the annual organization meeting set for 6:30 p.m. at the middle school.
The board is also scheduled to appoint a new president and vice president. Members will also be appointed to various Board of Education committees during the meeting.
