AMSTERDAM - A rally to support the proposed Exit 27 casino was postponed.
The rally was scheduled for Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Shuttleworth Park before the start of a Mohawks baseball game.
An email from the Montgomery County executive's office stated, "The extreme heat would make it potentially dangerous for people to be outside from 5 p.m. until the Mohawks game ends around 10 p.m., with temperatures soaring into the low and mid-90s."
The city recreation department said no new date has yet been chosen for the event.
The event was to support the casino proposed on land in the city of Amsterdam and town of Florida.
Developers have applied to the state for a license for the $250 million casino, which would include slot machines, gaming tables, a hotel, villas and golf courses. The project would create 453 temporary construction jobs and 850 permanent casino jobs, according to the developers.
