FONDA - The Fonda-Fultonville Central School District will have a new associate superintendent and principal starting July 1.
The Board of Education on Monday announced elementary school Principal Thomas Ciaccio is the district's new associate superintendent, with the possibility of becoming superintendent.
Ciaccio will continue in his duties as elementary school principal, and his salary will not increase, but his title will change and he will begin to take on the duties of district superintendent, according to the school district.
Raymond Colucciello, left, and Thomas Ciaccio, right, take their oaths of office Monday. Colucciello is the interim superintendent and Ciaccio is associate superintendent and principal.

The district did not provide Ciaccio's salary to The Leader-Herald by deadline this morning. He earned $86,000 per year in 2013, according to the website SeeThroughNY.
Ciaccio will be mentored by Interim Superintendent Raymond Colucciello, who is paid $137,000 per year.
"I'm very proud to be part of this district," Ciaccio said. "I'm just excited for us to keep moving forward, doing great things for our students."
The school board chose Ciaccio over high school Principal David Halloran, whom the district also considered for the job.
Ciaccio will participate in a school and community listening tour, review district documents and systems and learn about the district's budgeting process.
Ciaccio said he wants to make sure Fonda-Fultonville works as a community school and prepares students to go out in the world and compete at any level.
"That's my goal as a superintendent, that's my goal as an employee of this district," Ciaccio said. "We have the support of our community, of our families; we have outstanding educators and support staff, we have great students here."
The board also voted Monday to extend Colucciello's superintendent contract. Colucciello will stay on until the board decides to go forward with a new superintendent. No date has been set for his departure, but his contract has been extended through June 30, 2015.
"I look forward to serving you, and I especially look forward to working with Mr. Ciaccio," Colucciello said.
Ciaccio said he's looking forward to working with Colucciello, who he says has done a great job for the district.
"Working closer with him now, it's just going to be a great opportunity for me," Ciaccio said.
