Marilyn Charlotte Smith, age 87, of Kendallville, died on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville, Indiana. Mrs. Smith was born in Gloversville, New York, on June 18, 1927, to the late Peter Rumrill and Charlotte Emma (Anderson) Rumrill. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1936 and married Alfred B. Smith on June 29, 1946, in Gloversville. Alfred preceded her in death on August 6, 1981. Marilyn was employed with Taylor Made in Kendallville for many years.
Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jim McKenzie of New Haven; daughter, Joanne Barnett of Kendallville; daughter, Alison Snyder of Kendallville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and David Barth of Kendallville; four grandchildren, Felecia Ramsey of New Haven, Christina McKenzie of New Haven, Jane Cox of Peru and Nikolas Smith of Chicago, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Ruth Rumrill of Rochester, New York.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald Rumrill and Rick Rumrill; and son-in-law, Sonny Barnett, who died in 2013.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 25, 2014, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hite Funeral Home in Kendallville, Indiana.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 26, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville.
Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.
