Burton L. Smith, 67, of Johnstown, N.Y., passed away June 14, 2014, at his home. He was born on Nov. 25, 1946, in the town of Mohawk, the son of Claude and Adeline McRedmond Smith. Mr. Smith attended Fonda schools and was a lifelong area resident and dairy farmer. He enjoyed his days working in the fields and with livestock on his family's dairy farm on Route 30A and in his later years at Oakridge Vue Farm in Johnstown.
He is survived by his devoted sister, Doreen Smith of the town of Mohawk; his brothers, Anthony K. (Marilyn) Smith of Grand Forks, N.D. and Robert C. (Ruth, his longtime companion) Smith of Mohawk, N.Y., and David A. (Gail) Smith of Castleton-on-Hudson, N.Y. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Dianna M. Smith; and several nephews. Burt was predeceased by his youngest brother, Randy N. Smith, who passed away in July 2007.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at the Ehle Funeral Home, 15 N. William St., Johnstown, N.Y. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, N.Y. He will be sorely missed by all of those who knew him.
