Mr. Ronald W. Bortell, 77, of Fort Plain, passed away peacefully at his home, June 5, 2014. His loving wife was by his side. Born in Cobleskill, NY on August 16, 1936, he was the son of the late Orrin E. and Mary Jane Brown Bortell.
Ron is a lifetime resident of the area and worked for several local factories including The White Mop Ringer, Kasson & Keller along with raising animals on his own farm. He enjoyed hunting and the hobby farming with his wife. He married Ila Mae Brown on December 26, 1955. They shared a union of 58 years.
His loving family includes wife, Ila Mae; sons, James (Bonnie) Bortell, Glenn L. Bortell, Trent D. (Leigh) Natola, Craig A. Bortell and Scott K. (Amy) Bortell; a daughter, Holly M. Bortell. He is also survived by a brother, Jack A. Bortell; and sisters, Rose Hill and Marylou Pietrowski. Many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Candy Ann Bortell.
A family gathering in memory of Ron will be held on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of Jim and Bonnie Bortell.
