HAGAMAN - As adults get older, it is important to maintain range of motion, muscle tone, and flexibility. Lack of exercise can lead to weak legs and increases the chances of falling.
As part of their commitment to strengthening community, beginning June 17, through July 22, the Amsterdam Family YMCA, 58 N. Pawling St., Hagaman, will offer a free exercise class called Mohawk Valley Physicians Latin Moves on Tuesdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Designed for seniors and active older adults, this class is a workout that combines fast and slow Latin rhythms that tone and sculpt the body while strengthening the core.
"Regular exercise and especially exercise that focuses on the back and core can help reduce the risk of falls and increase balance," said Guido Posso, Wellness Director at the Y. "These free classes are an important way to achieve that goal."
Advanced registration by calling the Y at 842-2130 is required for each class. The class size is limited to 35. The cost is free to everyone compliments of MVP Health Care. Y membership is not required to participate.
