Ralph E. (Red) Kretser, son of Frank and Lottie Kretser, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at the Veterans Home in Palmer, Alaska. He was born May 10, 1931, in the town Palatine, Fort Plain, New York, to the late Frank and Lottie Kretser. Mr. Kretser retired from the Army in 1970 and the state of Alaska in 1987.
He was married to Doris Grandshaw.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and camping. He loved his dogs and other animals.
Ralph is survived by one son, Gary; and a daughter, Carla; his brothers, Bill (Angie) Kretser, Roger (Jeannette) Kretser, and Gary (Deloris) Kretser; his sisters, Geraldine (Dan) Nellis and Beverly Cotton of Fort Plain; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, Red is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; brothers, Dewey, Melvin and Arnold Kretser; and sister, Irene Vanevery.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Freysbush, NY.
