Mrs. Antoinette Bays, age 92, a lifelong Gloversville, NY, resident, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.
She was born on July 12, 1921, in Gloversville, the daughter of Catino and Amelia Javarone Saveca. She attended Gloversville schools. Antoinette was employed as a glove maker at the former CJ Bachner Glove Shop, retiring in 1980. She was devoted to her family and was married to Jesse Bays, the love of her life, in 1946, and he died on August 20, 2001. She is also predeceased by one brother, Arthur Saveca.
Survivors include two sons, Ronald J. Bays (Elizabeth) of Hackettstown, NJ, and Robert M. Bays of Gloversville; one sister, Stella R. Fonda (Richard) of Gloversville, and four grandchildren, Jason P. Bays, Christopher M. Bays, Brandon J. Bays and Ashley C. Bays; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was of the Catholic faith and a former member of Mt. Carmel Church of Gloversville.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to noon at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home Inc., 13 Prospect Ave., Gloversville, with the Rev. Donald Czelusniak officiating at noon.
