Phyllis R. Ryan Hladik was sent to the Lord on May 6, in Port St. Lucie, Fla., after a short illness with her loving family by her side. Phyllis was born on November 11, 1921, in Pittsfield, Mass., to Ethel and Allen Drumm. On June 21, 1941, she was married to John P. Ryan Jr. in Pittsfield, Mass. and they had 3 children. They were happily married until his unexpected passing on December 10, 1965. She then met and married Raymond Hladik on April 20, 1968, and relocated to Fulton County.
In her early years she was a legal secretary for her late husband and then for the late attorney George Langer, and she was the administrative secretary at Nathan Littauer Hospital, where she retired from. She was an upstanding citizen and had many friends but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid knitter. She also enjoyed singing, playing bridge and square dancing with her husband. In her later years, she moved to Florida to enjoy the warm weather. Phyllis and Ray were married until Ray's passing on July 29, 2012. Phyllis was one of the most wonderful people that you could ever meet. She had so much love to give and she gave it to all she met, especially her friends and family.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Evelyn Drumm; and both of her husbands. She is survived by: her 3 children, Sharon Cardinale (Richard) of Valley Cottage, N.Y., John P. Ryan III (Beth) of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Janice Ryan of Gloversville; 7 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Edward Drumm of Lee, Mass.; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service was already held at her assisted living facility. There are plans for a memorial service to be held at the East Greenbush Reformed Memorial Church on August 2, at 11 a.m. for friends and family. Any contributions can be made to the Treasure Coast Hospice of Fort Pierce, Florida.
