SARATOGA SPRINGS - On what was mostly a rainy day, the skies cleared up just in time for the Section II Class B semifinal matchup between the Fonda-Fultonville Braves and the Corinth Tomahawks at Veterans Memorial Park.
The fifth-seeded Braves put on a dominating show, only giving up one error on their way to a 10-0 win over the top-seededTomahawks, advancing them into the Class B championship game.
Pat Hart for Fonda pitched a complete game, accumulating 11 strikeouts and allowing just four hits on his way to shutting out the Tomahawks.
The Fonda-Fultonville batters also showed up firing on all cylinders, scoring four runs in the first inning and another three runs in the second.
On a full count, Zak Shaw hit a double into right field to bring in two runners in the top of the first inning. A couple at-bats later, Rob O'Kosky hit a single into right field to bring the other two scoring runs for the Braves.
It appeared Corinth was about to answer back after hits by Cassidy White and Anthony Villano. Hart had other plans though, forcing a pop-up then striking out the next batter to end the inning and leaving two Corinth base runners stranded.

In the second inning with runners on second and third for FFCS, Hart laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring in teammate Anthony Sinicropi. Baylee Hall then hit a double into a gap in the outfield to bring in another run. Corinth was then forced to make an early pitching change, however another hit from Valachovic brought in one more run for the Braves, giving them an early 7-0 lead going into the bottom of the second inning.
Shaw had two doubles and two RBIs for the Braves, while Hart had two singles and three RBIs. O'Kosky had a double and two RBIs for Fonda-Fultonville, and Sinicropi had three singles and an RBI.
"We came out and got off to a good start, Pat did a great job pitching today and we backed him up defensively. I thought we played a complete game, we hit the ball a little bit and played good defense," Fonda-Fultonville coach Rick Palumbo said. "Corinth's a good team and we were able to jump on them early. Beating the number one seed is a good feeling, but we feel pretty good about our chances playing teams from other leagues because our league is so tough and we've been pretty battle-tested."
Fonda-Fultonville (12-8 overall) advances to face sixth-seeded Voorheesville in Wednesday's championship game at 4 p.m. at Joe Bruno Stadium in Troy. Voorheesville defeated second-seeded Chatham, 5-2, in Saturday's other semifinal contests.
The Colonial Council rivals split their regular-season meeting with FFCS winning 6-0 at Voorheesville on April 29, while the Blackbirds notched a 4-0 win over the Braves in Fonda on May 15.
