Mary Ellen Managun Yost went to the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Wells Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since 2005. Mary Ellen was born in Gloversville on January 8, 1927, to Ralph Steven and Katherine Thompson Managun, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a brother, Robert Thompson Managun, in 1948. Mary Ellen grew up in Johnstown, attended the old Irving Street School and graduated in 1944.
She was married to Robert Ernest Yost, who passed in 2011. She is survived by her four children, Susan Yost of Gloversville, Robert (Gloria) Yost of Angier, NC, Ellen Blakeslee of Covington, GA, and Erin (Ronda) Yost of Richmond, VA; 15 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary Ellen was a longtime member of Fremont Methodist Church, Right to Life Chapter of Fulton County, Fulton County Historical Society, Paradise Ranch Riding Club and The Irish American Club of Amsterdam.
She loved riding her horses as a young girl and rode in many rodeos and was a member of the Diamond R Riders of Johnstown. She also loved tracing her family history back to Ireland. She was an avid collector of dolls and belonged to the Tryon Doll Club.
She was buried in Ferndale Cemetery, Johnstown, in her family (Managun) plot.
