Wilma E. Fountain, 86, of Mallard Avenue, Broadalbin, died Wednesday evening, May 7, 2014, at the Fulton Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Gloversville.
She was born on May 22, 1927, in the town of Wright, a daughter of LeRoy and Hazel Becker Wright, and was educated in Schoharie. Wilma lived most of her life in the Delanson area before moving to Broadalbin in 1980.
She was employed as a senior clerk with the NYS Department of Transportation in Albany, retiring in the early '80s.
Wilma was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Johnstown. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, bowling, and playing pitch. Her greatest delight was spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed visiting with friends at the American Legion post in Broadalbin.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a brother, Craig Wright; and three sisters, Pauline Bradt, Marjorie Laraway-Wood, and Doris Warner.
Survivors include her faithful companion of nearly forty years and the love of her life, Gary Hallenbeck of Broadalbin; a sister, Loretta H. Crewell of Berne; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home Inc., 111 County Highway 106 (Corner of Route 29 and Black Street) Johnstown, with Pastor Barton MacDougall, officiating. A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gallupville Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assoc., in care of the funeral home.
