Paul A. Parillo Sr.

Mr. Paul A. Parillo Sr., 79, of Gloversville, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Nathan Littauer Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Born August 29, 1934, the son of the late Ida Ardizzone Clemente and Anthony Parillo, he was a graduate of Gloversville High School and served in the Air Force from 1953 to 1957.

Paul worked in an area leather mill and while beginning his lifelong career in the family business, Alida's Appliances, eventually becoming a partner until the time of his retirement.

He married the love of his life, Angelina Vecchio on September 6, 1953, and they shared 60 wonderful years together and raised four children. Paul's greatest joy was spending time with his family, telling them a good joke and making them laugh. One of his greatest pleasures was enjoying time at his summer home on the Sacandaga Lake.

In his younger days, Paul was an avid hunter and he had a love for collecting and restoring old cars. He will be dearly missed by his canine friend, Bear, and his cat, Homer.

In addition to his wife, Angie, he is survived by his sons, Albert (Theresa) of Gloversville and Paul Jr. (Elizabeth) of Georgia; daughters, Linda Lizio (Mark Turner) of Johnstown and Coreen Perna (Robert) of Niskayuna; nine grandchildren, Gregory Parillo (Erica Wager), Scott Parillo (Jennifer Gallup), Vanessa Olivarez, Antonio Parillo, Micholyn Lizio, Gregory Lizio, Robert Perna Jr. (Tricia), Alyssa Britt (Jason) and David Perna; five great-grandchildren, Clorissa, Jordan and Devin Frey, Addisyn Parham and Kenley Britt.

He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Albert Clemente; sister, Catherine Harris; and son-in-law, Michael Lizio.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 30th, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St., Gloversville.

Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville or to SOCKS (Save Our Cats, Kittens, & Strays), P.O. Box 972, Gloversville, NY 12078.
