Mr. John E. Tallon, age 79, of Gloversville, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Albany Medical Center.
He was born March 15, 1935, in Gloversville, the son of the late Fred and Addie Carley Tallon. A 1953 graduate of Gloversville High School, he worked at the former Acme Market. At age 21 he began his career at the former Gloversville Federal Savings and Loan Association, where he retired as President in 1993 following 37 years of service there.
John was a member of the Gloversville Moose Lodge and the West River House Hunting Association. He is the current President of the Concordia Club and was a former member of the Eccentric Club. He enjoyed hunting, playing softball and was an avid bowler in several leagues for many years.

He was married November 5, 1955, to Joan C. Robbins Tallon. Joan died April 11, 1991. He was also predeceased by a son, Fred J. Tallon, and his wife, Deborah Tallon.
John is survived by two children: Lynn Tallon Miller of Mayfield and Shawn C. Tallon (Jennifer Jordan) of Gloversville; four grandchildren: Shana Flint, Jamie Tallon, Jennifer Tallon and London Tallon; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 25th, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St.; Gloversville, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
