Hattie Irene Stratton, age 94, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam, N.Y., with her three loving daughters at her side.
Hattie was born December 11, 1919, in Gloversville, New York, to the late Claribel Mosher. Hattie was often referred to as "carrot top" in her younger years due to her bright red hair. Hattie was employed by the telephone company in Gloversville for 25 years, and then Wood & Hyde Leather for 20 years. In her retirement years, Hattie volunteered for many years at McNab School in Gloversville, originally so she could be close to her granddaughter, Brianne Michelle Stratton. She found a great sense of pride in her time at school and loved all of "her kids" she got to know. Hattie has always been a great source of strength for her daughters as she never let adversities in her life get her down and was a very strong women. All of her daughters have said, "If I can be half the woman my mother is, I will be a happy woman," and that continues to hold true today. Hattie was married to the late William Henry Stratton. Throughout her life, Hattie loved to play bingo, pitch and crochet until she could no longer do so.
Hattie is survived by her daughters, Shirley Lee (Kenneth) of Amsterdam, Deborah Stratton (Dan Daley) of Gloversville, Terri Stratton (William Welch) of Latham; her loving granddaughter, Brianne Michelle Stratton of West Plains, Missouri; and grandson, Joseph Lee of Utica, N.Y.
