Milton Phlander Hart, 89, of Mayfield, passed away on Friday April 11, 2014, at home. He was born in Mayfield, NY on December 25, 1924, and was the son of the late Harvey and Maryann Carnahan Hart. He was married to Marilyn Herrick, who predeceased him on May 28, 1997, for 42 years. He was proud to be in the first graduating class of Mayfield High School.
He was a United States Army veteran serving in World War II in the 24th Division in New Guinea and the Philippines. Milt always said that President Harry Truman saved his life by ending the war.
He was employed by the Town of Mayfield Highway Department. He then was the owner and operator of Hart's Service Station in Mayfield for over 52 years. He was a life member of the Moose Club, the VFW, the American Legion and the Mayfield Serviceman's Club. He was also a member of the Mayfield Presbyterian Church and the NRA.

Survivors include his children, Phlan (Carol) Hart, and Kimberly McClary (Tom Sisco); grandchildren, Richard Hart, Jeremy McClary, Phlander and Samantha Hart; one great-grandchild, Camie Hart; and his extended Sisco family. He was predeceased by his wife; his siblings, Zelma Marriner, Earl (Chub) Hart; and grandchild, Tracie Hart.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 15, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Northville Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. Burial will be held in Mayfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mayfield Fire Department or the James A. Brennan Humane Society. A celebration of his life will be celebrated at Lanzi's on the Lake following the burial at 4 p.m.
