Josephine Del Costello

Mrs. Josephine Del Costello, age 82, of Gloversville, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice, Gloversville, with her family by her side.

She was born September 8, 1931, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Joseph and Madeline Clemente Vietri. She was employed as a cafeteria cook by the former Mount Carmel School and the Gloversville Enlarged School District.

Mrs. Del Costello was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and the Sisters of the Holy Spirit. She enjoyed going to casinos, as well as cooking and gardening. She loved spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

She was married to Frank M. Del Costello Jr. on September 9, 1952. Frank died September 15, 2007.

Survivors include two children, Kathy Del Costello and Michael Del Costello (Debra), both of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Abby and Natalie Del Costello; three brothers and two sisters, Pasquale Vietri (Janis) of Gloversville, Martha Mongato of Caroga Lake, John Vietri (Ellen) and Marie Steding (Gary) of Johnstown and Frank Vietri (Leslie Fenstermacher) of Mayfield; a brother-in-law, Albert Botch; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Josephine was recently predeceased by a sister, Jeanne Botch.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 16th, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. The Rev. Matthew Wetsel will be the celebrant. There will be no calling hours. Interment will take place at a later date at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.

Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville or to the Church of the Holy Spirit, 151 S. Main St., Gloversville, NY 12078.
