Lena Rose Javarone Polenski

Lena Rose Javarone Polenski, 95, of Gloversville, passed on Thursday, April 10, 2014, at home after a long illness with her loving family at her side.

Lena was born on October 15, 1918, to the late Bartolomeo and Jennie Gentile Javarone. She was married on April 19, 1942, to the late Peter Polenski. They celebrated 44 years together until his passing in 1986.

Lena will be remembered for her love and devotion of family. She welcomed everyone into her home, and loved having everyone close. Many beautiful memories were made around her table. Lena worked for many years as a glove maker. She enjoyed gardening and cooking.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Stacy Solby, Kate Dolan and the staff at Johnstown Primary Care Center, and Tracy Lee and the staff at Community Health Center, Johnstown, for the love, care, support and respect shown to Lena and her family.

Lena is survived by her children, Anthony (Rose Dwyer) and Mary Rose of Gloversville; her granddaughter, Traci Polenski (Roger Smith), and great-granddaughter, Andria Fisher; also several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Nellie DeRizzo, Margaret Mosetti, Nancy Cerasuolo, Susan Kreitlow, Anna M. Javarone, Mary Ackernecht, Joseph, Nick, Peter, Frank and Tony Javarone; also her grandson, Christopher Polenski; and daughter-in-law, Victoria Polenski.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014, from 5 to 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, April 13, from 4 to 8:00 p.m. at the Amico Funeral Home, 150 South Main Street, Gloversville. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, April 14, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Burial will take place following Mass at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown, N.Y.
