Mrs. Helen M. Sutliff Saxton, age 97, of Gloversville, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Nathan Littauer Hospital Nursing Home.
She was born January 13, 1917, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Guy and Cora Belle Mapes Sutliff. She was employed by various leather glove manufacturers in the area over the years.
Mrs. Saxton was a lifelong member of North Main Street United Methodist Church and its former Puritan Class.

She was married June 16, 1939, to Hugh A. Saxton, who died November 14, 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Joanne M. Brown (Dale) of Gloversville; two grandchildren, Kimberly Gittens (Sean) of Gloversville and Mark Brown (Darcie Norman) of Pompano Beach, FL; a great-granddaughter, Victoria Brown of Gloversville; cousins, Don Sutliff (Rita), Gene Sutliff and Gerald Mapes.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her sister, Frances Hoag.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10th, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Christopher Hamm officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
