Mrs. Ruth R. Flint, 85, of Gloversville, passed away April 2, 2014, at Mountain Valley Hospice House with her loving family by her side. She was born December 23, 1928, in Gloversville, daughter of the late Joseph and Carmella Derrico. Ruth was educated in Gloversville schools and a lifelong city resident. She was a supervisor at the former Coleco Industries in Gloversville and had also worked at Derrico Glove Company for a time.
Ruth loved her family, especially enjoying her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. While crocheting was her hobby, Ruth enjoyed trips to the casino, and perhaps her true passion was bingo. She was a well-known regular at several area bingo games. She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her children, Tammy VanAlstyne (Robert) of Fultonville, Linda Thompson and Thomas Flint of Gloversville. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Charles L. Flint Sr.; and her son, Charles L. Flint Jr.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2014, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Rev. Steven Wrabel officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Urn burial at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
