Henry H. Lowell, age 85, of Gloversville, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Mountain Valley Hospice House, Gloversville, following a long illness.
Born on July 17, 1928, in Ballston Spa, a son of the late LeRoy and Edna Williams Lowell.
In his early years, he was employed with the Lee Dying Co. as a buyer and foreman. He then went to work for the General Electric Company in Schenectady as a crane operator in the Steam Turbine Division building 273 until his retirement.
Henry proudly served his country in the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1947.
Mr. Lowell was a former member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Gloversville. He was an avid golfer, card player hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include the love of his life, Alice Stewart Lowell, whom he married on July 5, 1984; two sons, Damon Stewart and Daryl Stewart; two daughters, Patricia Bougois and Deborah (Joe) Mongato; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins; and his pet cat, Charlie.
He was predeceased by one brother, Leroy Lowell; three sisters, Vivian Farrar, Edith Fancher and Jean Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at 12 noon at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc.. 215 East Main Street, Johnstown. The Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams will officiate.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday prior to the service from 10 a.m. until noon.
Interment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
