Esther P. Eckler Fleck

Mrs. Esther P. Eckler Fleck of Fultonville, NY, passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital on March 29, 2014. Her loving family was by her side. Born in Wolfford, New Hampshire on May 19, 1930, she is the daughter of the late Edgar and Delphine Ames Perry.

Born and raised in New Hampshire, she then moved to Fultonville around age 15, she is a graduate of Fultonville High School. Esther was employed by Templetons Glove Factory for over twenty years, she then worked as a self employed nurses aide for many years. She is a former member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 562 and the FFAVAC. Esther enjoyed puzzles, and taking care of others. Most of all she loved her family.

She married the late Victor Eckler Sr. in 1945, they shared a union of 27 years until his passing in 1976. She is also preceded by Kenneth Fleck, whom she wed in 1981, they shared a union of nine years until his passing in 1990. She is also predeceased by a son in law Larry Zayicek and brothers, Raymond, Richard and Arthur Perry.

Her loving family includes sons, Perry Eckler (Kathy) of Johnstown, Victor Eckler Jr. (Patricia) of Glen; daughters, Beverly Zierak (Albert) of Amsterdam, Sherri Zayicek of Gloversville, Deborah Gray(Charles) of Glen, Pamela Minch (Edward) of Glen and Norma Sheldon (Richard) of Fonda; stepson, Kenneth Fleck Jr. (Nancy) of Johnstown; and stepdaughter, Shawn Wellman (LeRoy) of Fultonville. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville NY 12072. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. O. Jay Hine. Burial will take place later in the spring at Maple Avenue Cemetery in Fultonville.
