GLOVERSVILLE - Beginning in April, some Gloversville middle and high school students will be able to catch a free bus ride to school.
The Board of Education authorized the district to move forward with plans for a pilot program to create pickup locations at the Boulevard, Kingsborough and Park Terrace elementary schools to provide morning transportation for GMS and GHS students.
The trial program is scheduled to run from April 1 through the last day of classes in June.
According to a news release, middle and high school students can sign up now to get a spot on the bus most convenient to them. Specific pick-up times will be determined and announced based on the results of the signups.
Sign up forms are available in the middle and high school main offices, at the district office and on the district website.
Space will be limited. Sign-ups will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. Students who don't get reserved spots will be named as alternates. Students will forfeit their reserved spots if they do not utilize the bus on a regular basis, the release said.
