GLOVERSVILLE-A Gloversville man was arrested Tuesday after he set fire to a porch on Wood Street.
According to city police, the department received reports of a man banging on an apartment door at 8 Wood St. around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said the man, Adam Roice, 27, of 45 E. 11th Ave., caused a disturbance and was arguing with occupants through an open second-story window
Roice then took a red plastic gas can from the front porch and dumped gasoline on the porch steps to the residence and lit the gas, starting a small fire on the porch, police said. The occupants of the residence were able to identify Roice and he was located walking near his residence that night. The investigation revealed Roice had been in a local bar earlier in the night and stole a bottle of Crown Royal Whiskey.
Roice was charged with second-degree attempted arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and two counts of petit larceny.
Police said no one was injured as a result of the fire, and there was no damage to the front porch steps.
Roice was arraigned in City Court and remanded to the Fulton County Correctional Facility on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
