Mrs. Barbara G. Rose Travis, 76, of Gloversville, passed away March 15, 2014, at Nathan Littauer Hospital. Barbara was born February 3, 1938, in Gloversville, N.Y. She is the daughter of the late Arthur and Dorthea Hart Maxon. She graduated from Gloversville High School. Always hard working, Barbara was employed at F.W. Woolworth's at the soda fountain in her earlier years. She had worked in the production department at Coleco Industries in Gloversville and at Excel in Johnstown prior to the onset of her illness.
Barbara enjoyed several community activities especially her lunch outings with old schoolmates. She was a former officer at the Gloversville Moose Lodge. Barbara was proud of her volunteer work with the Gloversville Senior Citizens and her activities at the former Fremont St. United Methodist Church and the North Bush Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed.
Barbara leaves her dear family surviving: Jeff Rose (Rose) of Pinetop, NC, Jay Rose (Harue) of Perth, Joanne Nordling (Rich) of Gloversville and Judi Rose of Finland. She is also survived by a sister, Sandy Niver (David) of Buffalo; a brother, Bill Maxon (Carolyn) of Gloversville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and the father of her children, Fitch Rose of Greenville, SC.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, with the Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville.
