Betty Jane Palmateer

Betty Jane Palmateer, 89, of Northville, NY, went home to be with the lord on March 13, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Amsterdam after a short illness.

Born on November 27, 1924 in Northville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Geraldine Weaver. She graduated from Northville Central School in 1942. She then went on to attend Albany Business College. On October 24th, 1948, she was married to Clark Palmateer of Northville and enjoyed more than 26 years of marriage until his passing in February of 1975.

Throughout her life, she held several jobs in secretarial work, including at B. W. Delia Inc. and Northville Central School. She also kept busy in her spare time working at the Charcoal Pit and Izzo's restaurants.

Betty was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Northville, and was an active member of her TOPS group. She enjoyed reading, craftwork, and was an avid fan of watching Syracuse University sports.

She is survived by her son Randy Palmateer and his wife, Jo, as well as her grandson, Nicholas C. Palmateer, and his girlfriend, Nateasha Williams, all of Northville. She is also survived by her longtime friend of over 70 years, Betsy Moore.

She was also predeceased by her brother, Walter Weaver, and sister Ola Thompson.

A service will be held on Monday, March 17th, at 11 AM at the Northville Funeral Service, 401 Bridge Street, Northville, NY. Calling hours will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 16th, at Northville Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Northville Public Library, PO Box 1259, Northville, NY.
